Lisa Odom


[photo of Odom] Lisa Odom is a 41-year-old quality assurance analyst who qualifies for the WSC again (after an earlier appearance in 1993) on the basis of her NSA tournament rating. Odom is the highest-rated female player in North America.

Odom lost to Appleby 364-430, and is now in 70th place, 0-1 -66.
Round 2. Odom wins against fellow American Paul Epstein, 448-388 to almost balance her record. She is in the middle of the pack now, at 49th place, 1-1 -6.
Round 3. Odom beats another American, Ron Tiekert in a 451-450 squeaker. She moves up to 42nd place, 2-1 -5.
Round 4. Odom wins a big game against Steven Gruzd of South Africa, 582-315. The spread pulls her all the way up to 11th place, 3-1 +262. Odom bingo-ed BRITTLED, TITANATE, AGENCIES vs Gruzd's COLONISE and SENARII.
Round 5. Odom beats NSA Director of Clubs and Tournaments Joe Edley 466-371 and gets up to 6th place, 4-1 +357, third among players at 4-1.
Round 6. Odom loses to Canadian Champion Joel Wapnick 387-427, and falls to 15th place, 4-2 +317.
Round 7. Odom lost to Jakkrit Klaphajone (TH) 365-411. Odom is now #27, with a record of 4-3 +271.
Round 8. Odom lost to Andrew Cook (UK) 333-453. Odom is now #42, with a record of 4-4 +151.
Round 9. Odom lost to Alec Webb (UK) 341-399. Odom is now #55, with a record of 4-5 +93.
Round 10. Odom won against Jim Nanavati (CA) 494-415. Odom is now #42, with a record of 5-5 +172.
