The North American SCRABBLE Players Association (NASPA) was established in February 2009 as part of the negotiated process by which Hasbro, the NSA and the NSA's Steering Committee devolved responsibility for club and tournament SCRABBLE play to representatives of the player community.

As of February 2009, it is managed by the Steering Committee, and is developing its internal procedures and planning on beginning operation in the second or third quarter of 2009.
