‘Casual SCRABBLE’ play is contrasted with ‘competitive SCRABBLE’ play. In competitive SCRABBLE play, NASPA members meet at clubs and tournaments sanctioned by NASPA and play according to tournament rules for prizes, fame and ratings.

In casual play, people enjoy the game whenever, however, and with whomever they like. The NSA maintains a free online directory of players interested in meeting for casual SCRABBLE games across North America.
