This page discusses how often updates are published to the Collins lexicon, and is part of our introduction to Collins (SOWPODS) in North America.

How Often is the Collins Word List Updated?

Approximately every 5–7 years, which is similar to TWL.

At first glance, this may seem unexpected. After all, if CSW includes lists from both the British and American dictionaries, shouldn’t it be updated twice as often? However, the CSW, of course, specifically includes the TWL, and the worldwide community no more wants too-frequent updates than North America. So far, the frequency of updates has been similar.

The next CSW update is planned for 2012.
