2003 Canadian SCRABBLE Championship Commentary: Final Round 1

Finals 1

We start the game with a 20-person audience. Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON), clad in a leather outfit is running the commentary. Shaun Goatcher (Mississauga ON) amd Trevor Sealy (Oshawa ON) are helping, but it is a bit rocky getting the racks, plays, scores, into this room.

Kate Doe is on one computer in the playing room and Gary Sagara is on another. While Kate is using a chat window to give the racks to Gregg Foster in the viewing room, Gary is putting the game up play by play on the NSA web site.

A bit of orientation problems (were plays going down or across) caused the web site to look a bit confused, but we finally did get the board up and looking right. John Chew has made a few personnel changes and we hope the next round goes a bit smoother.

No shock, since we've seen her do such a good job in the past, Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) is great in the MC postion. At one point, when we weren't getting proper info in the viewing room, she smiled and walked out into the playing room to see the board and racks herself! A take charge person!

It was a win for David Boys (Dorval QC), 465-304.
