Back to 2001 WSC
If you have qualified to play in the 2001 World SCRABBLE® Championship, congratulations!
To make sure your WSC entry proceeds as smoothly as possible, please make sure that you:
Complete a biographical form for press use.
E-mail us a JPEG format photo to info@scrabble-assoc.com or mail a scannable photo to NSA, PO Box 700, Greenport, New York, 11944 USA.
Complete a U.S. W-9 tax form specifying whether or not you have a U.S. taxpayer identification number. The form can be found at the IRS web site, and copies will be available at registration time.
Book your hotel accommodation. See our hotel information page to find out about our special hotel rate.
You may bring a guest to the opening Gala Reception on Thursday, December 13th. If you wish to do so, you must give us their name no later than November 15th. Please note however that the complimentary breakfast and lunch that is provided from Friday, December 14th to Monday, December 17th is for contestants and staff only: no guests are allowed. There are 29 restaurants in the Venetian Hotel where others may dine, and a very large selection of others within short walking distance.
It is important that we have a complete and accurate player list by the time registration closes at 9 P.M. on December 13th. If you are planning on arriving after that time, you must contact us at info@scrabble-assoc.com now or risk not being included in the pairings. You must then also contact us immediately upon arrival by calling WSC Committee Director Charlie Southwell at the Venetian Hotel 702-414-1000 or toll free 888-283-6384 to confirm your attendance and receive your registration materials.
If you are delayed en route and miss registration, please contact us at the above phone number to tell us when you expect to arrive so that we will hold your place, and then contact us at as soon as you arrive to register. We can have your contestant kits waiting for you at Guest Services.
Some players are looking for hotel roommates. Please e-mail us at info@scrabble-assoc.com if you would like to be put in contact with them.
