In this round, two players with disabilities faced off in division 6. Cecile Betts (Laguna Woods, CA), who is legally blind, played John DeLuca (Albuquerque, NM), who is deaf. Christina, who uses a bright light to illuminate the board, is allotted five more minutes on her game clock (sanctioned by the NSA) and John requests that his players stop the clock after each of his turns and help him with the scorekeeping duties. It was a bit rocky at the outset because he didn't understand the 30-minute time allowance, but once it was all explained, the two of them played the game without incident. In the photo, Division 6 Leader, Wendell Smith, is assisting them with endgame paperwork.
