2000 NSC Pairings
The pairing system for this tournament will be similar to the 1998 Championship, with a change in the early rounds. All pairings will be posted on your Division bulletin board at the start of each morning and afternoon session. As in past National Championships, the top player in each division will be included in regular pairings as described below, even if there is a runaway victory.
Rounds 1-11: Sunday A.M. Sunday P.M. Monday A.M. |
The first 11 rounds will be a round robin in groups of 12 players. Each group of 12 players will be chosen using the July 1st, 2000 ratings list. For example, if there are 96 players in your division, the first group will have #1, 9, 17, 25, 33, 41, 49, 57, 65, 73, 81, 89. We will post only those rounds pertinent to each session. Each group will play at the same 6 boards and three tables, since there will be two boards at each table. This will ensure a minimum of movement. The numbers represent each player's rating relative to others coming into the tournament, as of July 1, 2000. In all later sessions, the numbers will represent the players' tournament standing among all the players in each division. Subsequent sessions will be paired in groups of 4, and with each session these paired players will have win/loss records more similar than prior sessions. |
