Back to NSC Sunday Commentary
I've never seen such an excited mass of SCRABBLE® players. Some are playing warm-up games on the
new 50th edition SCRABBLE® sets, others are
posing for photographs in front of the big board, and still others are
scurrying around looking for their first table assignments. After the
room quieted down, Laura Klein, Director of Operations, began her
welcoming comments and announcements. Players were reminded to turn in
some paperwork after each game and all paperwork after the morning and
afternoon sessions. Then, the moment we'd all been waiting for: the new
PROTILES were distributed. Oohs and aahs were heard as the long-awaited
color was revealed: blue tiles with white letters and off-white tiles
with blue letters. Since there were two games per table, a bag of each
color was put on every table. This arrangment helped to prevent players
from replenishing their racks from the wrong tile bag.
